Adelaide – Easy to Get Around

Adelaide has a population of 1.2 million and is the 5th largest capital city in Australia. By comparison, Sydney and Melbourne are about 4 times as large as Adelaide, Brisbane is about twice as big, and Perth is about the same, just a tiny bit bigger than Adelaide. For an international comparison, Adelaide’s population makes it roughly the same size as Dallas Texas, Liverpool England, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia or the entire population of Swaziland.

One of the advantages of living in a smaller city is that it doesn’t take long to travel anywhere and everything is nearby. You can get from the beach to the hills in a little over half an hour. Even from the outermost suburbs you can get to the CBD in 45 minutes.

Not that you’ll need to go to the CBD (unless of course you work there, in which case it might be a good idea to drop in from time to time!). There are large shopping centres, sports facilities, entertainment venues spread all across the metropolitan area. You’ll probably never need to travel more than 20 minutes away from home to find anything you’ll need. Even if you’re travelling by public transport, between Adelaide’s buses, trains and trams the entire city is within your reach.
